Where
did you get the name Mybroga Motorsports , or Mybroga
Racing Club ( MRC ) , and what's it mean ?
Back when Garby Marcotti first purchased a
PC , around 2000 , he needed some help now and again with
getting things setup online
, and
I
believe his username was mybroga . I asked him one day
while over at his house what the hell that stood for ,
and he was quite reluctant to tell me . But after prodding
away and beginning to become annoyed at at the fact he
wouldn't tell me , he finally caved in and said it stood
for My
Bro Ga = My Brother Gaylen . Sorry if I've mispelled this
Garby , it's been awhile . Gaylen was sadly lost to this
world in a car accident and Garby chose that username as
a way of remembering his only older brother .
Stirling Moss , Garby Marcotti , Jo Siffert and myself
all work together here in Canada . After buying a copy
of GPL , that I was anxious to try from reading some previews
, I simply got hooked on it and talked Mossy into trying
it out . Shortly after that , we got Siffert and Garby
hooked up , and Niki , Blu , Senna and Tazzy soon followed
the trend . the league had a small website , but needed
a name . After discovering Garby's unique way of remembering
his brother , I talked him into letting us use that name
, and Gaylen's name would live on with us , as long as
the league lasted . A tribute to Gaylen , and Garby . The
league at this point was just a small group of friends
having some fun at night , and it became apparent that
keeping track of some races and stats would bring it to
another level . Ofcourse , as you all know , GPL online
needs bandwidth if you wish to add more drivers , so after
struggling with this problem for a season or two , we finally
got help from Paul Jackson when I posted a rant on RSC
on how I could get more than 7 guy's in a race . My wishes
came true !
Quickly after , the league began to grow , and now we had
a few guy's from outside of work racing with us . After
each season , we began to meet more people online , and
the thought of adding more divisions was something we had
dreamed about since day one ! Paul started up the SpeedGeezers
network , the forums began to buzz , and the rest , as
they say , is history !
Mybroga Motorsports has a birthdate on our forums , and
I believe it's in April sometime . So when you see that
birthday announcement on the forum , don't forget to wish
the league a Happy Birthday !!!! I can only imagine what
crazy game I'd be playing right now if not for MRC , and
all the fantastic people that make this league the best
online GPL experience there is !
